We continue introducing you to matryoshkas in national costumes of different countries.

A blue sarafan, red apron, and a blooming yellow tulip in hand – here is a matryoshka in Dutch national costume, crafted by the masters of the Brest Souvenir Factory.

There are many variations of traditional Dutch costumes, with each region having its own style and distinctive features.

Working clothes of Dutch women were typically in dark tones (gray, brown) and differed significantly from their festive outfits. This contrast is especially evident in the attire of wealthy townswomen, who wore silk dresses with black or white aprons, shawls, and headdresses made from famous Flemish lace.

Skirts and aprons were often sewn from plain or striped fabrics. A characteristic detail of Dutch aprons was a wide band of fabric in a contrasting color, sewn not to the hem but to the waistband.

Over a linen shirt with long sleeves and a striped blouse, women would wear a narrow corset-like bodice – a snug outer wrap. This bodice, called a “koketka,” was made of dark brown wool and tightly laced at the sides. On weekdays, this richly embroidered corset was covered with a simple printed cotton slip.

A traditional doll is a classic gift that never goes out of style. No computer game or plastic toy can replace it.

The set includes 7 wooden matryoshkas ranging from 0.9 to 5.3 inches in height.

At «Brest Souvenir Factory», we create gift toys for children and adults alike. For over 80 years, these wooden figures have remained timeless and beloved.
