Ogovo Painting grew out of the tradition of painted chests in Western Polesie. These patterns brought together beauty, everyday life, and symbols of protection, prosperity and family happiness.
“Polesskaya Skrynka” is a collection by Brest Souvenir Factory inspired by Ogovo Painting and authentic painted chests from Western Polesie.
We used authentic chests — skryni and kufary — as our starting point, studying their compositions, colours and ornamental rhythm, and transferring this artistic language to new forms: boxes, photo frames, candle holders and other souvenir pieces.
Each design in the collection preserves the spirit of the old skrynya: richly filled painting, floral and botanical ornament, bright colours, a strong sense of rhythm and a composition with very little empty space.
The boxes can be used for jewellery, family keepsakes and treasured small objects. A favourite photograph can be placed in the frame. Candle holders and other pieces add colour, warmth and the atmosphere of handcraft to the home.

The “Yanov” design is named after the old name of the town of Ivanovo in the Brest Region. Ogovo Painting developed especially actively around Ivanovo and in the surrounding area.
This design pays tribute to the region where the tradition of painted chests flourished and preserved its distinctive artistic language.

The “Motol” design is named after the prototype chest kept in the Motol Museum of Local History.
Motol itself lies in a region closely connected with the tradition of Western Polesie. It is a place with a strong character, a tradition of hard work and a rich cultural memory. Its heritage is carefully preserved, allowing old chests to continue inspiring contemporary objects.

The “Yaselda” design is named after the river that flows through this region. Its blue background was chosen deliberately: it evokes water, sky, calmness and the landscape of Polesie.
It is a lighter and brighter design within the collection, with a sense of air, movement and quiet depth.

The “Ogovo” design is named after one of the villages where Ogovo Painting developed especially actively. The name of this village gave the entire tradition its name.
For Brest Souvenir Factory, this is an especially important design: Ogovo connects the collection with its source, with folk painting and with the artistic language that we continue in contemporary pieces.

The name “Stsepanida” comes from an inscription on the back of the prototype chest. It was probably the name of the maker or of a person connected with the chest.
This design carries a particularly personal story. It is not simply an ornament or an object, but a trace of a person whose hands, taste and memory have reached us through a painted piece.

The “Kremno” design is connected with a village where chests were made in a distinctive blue colour. This shade became an important part of the design.
In these chests, blue is more than a background; it creates a mood — calm, clean and slightly festive. In the “Kremno” design, we preserve this quality and transfer it to contemporary forms.
