The Yaselda Small Box marks the beginning of the third chapter in the Polesskaya Skrynka collection. This design is inspired by the river Yaselda — one of the vital waterways flowing through the quiet lands of Western Polesia. But Yaselda is more than a river. It is a cultural symbol, gently carrying the spirit of the region in its current.

The choice of color speaks volumes: deep, sky-washed blue reflects the water’s surface, the horizon, and a sense of peaceful rootedness. In Polesian tradition, blue is everywhere — on the wooden windows of village homes, on chapel roofs, on roadside crosses. It is a color of memory and continuity, and here, it becomes the background for a story painted by hand.

Ethnography in Color and Form

Each box is carefully hand-painted using motifs from the Ogovo decorative tradition — an artistic language born from village life.
