This set of six nesting dolls is the third installment in our "Traditional Women's Costumes of Belarus" collection, this time representing Eastern Polesia. The Kalinkovichi costume is one of the regional variations of Belarusian national dress, traditionally worn in the Kalinkovichi, Svetlogorsk, and Zhlobin districts.

The women’s costume consisted of four main structural elements: a linen shirt (кашуля), a skirt (спадніца for summer or woolen андорак), a sleeveless vest (гарсэт or кабат), an apron (пераднік), and a nametka (headscarf or veil). One of the most distinctive features of the shirt was its ornamented collar and richly embroidered details. The lace-trimmed folded collar, known as брыжы, was influenced by Western European fashion from the 16th century. The sleeves were always heavily embroidered, predominantly featuring geometric diamond patterns.

The sleeveless vest (Gorset) was elaborately decorated with machine embroidery, sequins, braids, and trims, making it a signature feature of this regional style. The apron embroidery typically consisted of a narrow red geometric pattern about one to two hand-widths in size, serving not only an aesthetic purpose but also a symbolic protective role.

On holidays and fair days, the apron was an essential decorative element paired with the skirt and andarak, completing the festive look.
