Historical Insight: The Domachevsky attire is a traditional ensemble of Belarusian national dress, historically worn in the southwestern Brest and Malaryta districts (along the Bug River), in parts of Poland (near Włodawa), and in southwestern Volyn Oblast in Ukraine.

The outfit consists of a shirt, skirt, apron, corset, and headdress. The shirt features a wide turned-down collar and richly embroidered sleeves, which are a hallmark of this style. The skirt and apron were made from the same woven wool or linen fabric, pleated into large folds, and decorated with red, green, white, blue, and black vertical or horizontal stripes. For children, girls, and teenagers, the corset was an essential element of the attire. Women's corsets were made from fine factory-produced blue wool and lavishly adorned with colorful trims, ribbons, buttons, and decorative stitching. The traditional headdress for married women was a red band (kapushon) with a pointed tip above the forehead, over which a stiffly starched, vibrantly patterned scarf was draped.
