The Belarusian national costume is one of the country’s most recognizable symbols. Get acquainted with traditional attire and Slavic patterns with the new series by Brest Souvenir Factory. We present the six-part collection "Folk Costumes of Belarus", starting with the Malorita costume. Build your collection and proudly pass it down as a family heirloom.
This set features five beautifully crafted nesting dolls, dressed in classic white and red combinations that highlight the beauty and warmth of Slavic embroidery. Use them as home décor, an office accent, or as a toy for children. Ranging in height from 0.9 inches (2.2 cm) to 3.5 inches (9 cm), these stackable dolls serve as imaginative play pieces or sorting toys for young children.
Each doll is handcrafted, making every set truly unique. Every piece is individually turned, sanded, and hand-painted, undergoing 15 production stages before reaching its final form. With over 80 years of tradition, Brest Souvenir Factory continues to preserve hand-painting techniques, ensuring that each doll has a distinct facial expression and costume detailing.
The Malorita attire is distinguished by its archaic elements, harmonious design, and unique women’s headpiece— the namitka. It was commonly worn in Western Polesia, particularly in Malorita District, southwestern Belarus.
This traditional outfit consisted of a linen shirt with straight shoulder inserts and a turned-down collar, decorated with red-brown geometric embroidery arranged in horizontal stripes on the shoulders, bib, and collar edges. The skirt (burka) was woven from natural gray linen and hemp fibers, combined with brown-red wool, a feature unique to Malorita.
The apron often had decorative embroidered ties, and the skirt was cinched with a red woven belt. The namitka (headpiece) was particularly striking in this region, richly embroidered with star-like rosettes in one corner and intricate patterns along both edges. A unique weaving technique called "kozhushkom" was used in crafting these garments.
This hand-painted nesting doll set brings authentic Belarusian heritage into a collectible form, making it a perfect cultural keepsake or gift.
