The Domachevo costume is a traditional Belarusian outfit consisting of a shirt, skirt, apron, corset, and headpiece. Today, you can admire this authentic folk attire on hand-painted nesting dolls crafted by the artisans of Brest Souvenir Factory. Drawing on over 80 years of experience, these masters create unique wooden souvenirs, forming a special collectible series titled "Traditional Women's Costumes of Belarus". This set represents the second installment, and collecting all six sets will allow you to own a complete series of these rare and culturally significant dolls.

This set includes five nesting dolls, each dressed in traditional Slavic clothing. Their sizes range from 0.9 inches (2.2 cm) to 3.5 inches (9 cm). Every piece is made from natural wood, featuring hand-painted Slavic ornaments and patterns created with water-based paints and sealed with hypoallergenic lacquer.

These dolls are safe, eco-friendly, and versatile, making them ideal gifts for both adults and children. They can be used for play, educational activities, or as unique decorative pieces for the home.

Historical Insight: The Domachevo Costume

The Domachevo folk costume was traditionally worn in southwestern Belarus, particularly in the Brest and Malorita districts along the Bug River, as well as in eastern Poland (near Włodawa) and western Volyn in Ukraine.

This regional attire was distinguished by a wide, folded collar and richly embroidered sleeves, which were key features of the style. The skirt and apron were made from handwoven wool or linen, often pleated and featuring vivid red, green, white, blue, and black stripes running either vertically or horizontally.

A corset was an essential part of a girl's and young woman's outfit. Women's corsets were made from light blue wool fabric, beautifully adorned at the front with colorful trims, ribbons, buttons, and decorative stitching.

The headpiece for married women was a red headband (hood) with a pointed front, worn under a stiffly starched, colorful shop-bought scarf, carefully wrapped into a rolled turban-like shape.
