Сделано с любовью в Бресте

This set of Belarusian nesting dolls dressed in traditional Maladzyechna-style costumes is a beautiful addition to any collection representing ethnic heritage. The set includes five hand-painted wooden dolls ranging in height from 0.86 inches to 3.74 inches, each showcasing regional attire from the north of Minsk and Hrodna regions in Belarus.

The Maladzyechna costume is a local variation of the Belarusian national dress. It typically includes a linen shirt (kashulya), a skirt (spadnitsa or woolen andarak), a dark woolen jacket (zhaketka), an apron (perednik), and a traditional head covering called a kaptur. The andarak was often made of bright handwoven wool with colorful horizontal stripes, while festive versions used finer, more expensive fabrics. The jacket was corset-style with ties, and the shirt featured richly embroidered cuffs and collar. The light apron had plant-like zigzag embroidery in a minimalist style, and the kaptur was traditionally covered with a scarf (khustka).

Authentic Folk Costume in Miniature

The dolls are handmade by Brest Souvenir Factory, a company with more than 80 years of experience in preserving folk traditions. Each figure is carefully painted to reflect the authentic elements of the Maladzyechna costume. These unique collectibles are part of a larger series dedicated to traditional women’s dress across Belarusian regions.

Whether you’re an enthusiast of cultural heritage, a doll collector, or looking for a meaningful souvenir, this nesting doll set offers both artistic value and historical insight. Be sure to explore other sets in the “Traditional Women’s Costumes of Belarus” collection.
